Frequently asked questions

What can Reiki help me with?

Reiki can help you heal physically, mentally, and emotionally. Whether you’re dealing with troublesome body pains, stress in life or work, emotional overwhelm from difficult situations, Reiki is a gentle tool to help you through it. Reiki is a complementary healing modality, and is not intended to replace medical treatment, though it works beautifully alongside it!

How many Reiki sessions are needed?

No two people are the same. Therefore, no two people will respond to Reiki in the same way or in an identical time frame.
For people with chronic conditions, weekly sessions are usually encouraged for about four to six weeks. This allows the energy to build up in the system.
Those challenged with an acute condition may notice lasting improvements after only one or two sessions. Again, no two cases are the same.

Can i have Reiki when I am on medication?

Yes, you may. Reiki is being used in many hospitals world wide along side conventional therapies.

What can I expect to feel during a session?

Reiki presents itself according to how an individual needs to perceive it. Some people feel sensations such as heat, tingling or coolness. Each area in the body may perceive the energy in different ways.
Many people do not experience the sensations mentioned, but go into a deep state of relaxation or fall asleep during the session.
It is not unusual for people to feel the energy moving to areas of old injury or tension. Indeed, some feel a slight discomfort as the energy helps to bring residue healing and restore balance to such areas.

Is Reiki a religion?

Although Reiki energy is spiritual in nature, Reiki is not a religion. Practitioners are not asked to change any religious or spiritual beliefs they may have.

Do I have to lie down during a Reiki Session?

It isn't a must, a Reiki session can easily be done while you are seated. You can let me know which is more comfortable for you, sitting or lying down.

Can Reiki hurt me?

Reiki is a loving energy that can do no harm! Sometimes, as blockages are cleared, one may have what is referred to as a "healing crisis" following a session. This can come in the form of a headache, gassiness, or an upset stomach; however, it passes quickly (usually within a few hours), and it is actually considered to be a very good thing, since it is a sign that the body is releasing toxins and truly healing!
